Artist and writer based in New Delhi

Chandra is an independent artist and writer based in New Delhi and Dehradun

I am currently working on my first ever film project, The Seat of Troubles, a stop-motion-animated historical fiction short set to be released in 2026. Although I am working on this film mostly solo, the project would not be possible without the amazing voice-cast and such other contributors as the 3D artists and the FDM/MDF technicians. The Seat of Troubles is set in Ayistan, a fictional Indic country and expansive universe that I have been developing since 2021.

I led the development of the action-adventure indie video game A Thug’s Ascension, which, after being announced at IndiaGDC, DevGAMM Lisbon, and DreamHack Beyond, and featured on IGN among many others, released on Steam for Windows and macOS in January 2024 and received positive reviews from both players and critics. I served in the five-year-long production as writer-director, cinematographer, game designer, programmer, animator, and texture artist, among other responsibilities, and led a team of four developers.

In the background, I am also conceptualising several bigger future projects, including my epic science-fiction drama Bora.

Outside of film, storytelling, worldbuilding, and art in general, I am passionate about weightlifting, health, and personal development. I was previously also an avid badminton player, and was two-times high-school champion in men’s singles. However, it is perhaps learning that is my favourite thing in the world, and I find myself most fascinated by the different fields of anthropology. You can find my writings on these subjects on my Substack.

Studio

Studio Aditya Chandra is the home of all my independent art, and the label behind The Seat of Troubles, A Thug’s Ascension, as well as the many future projects to come.

Ideas

Sometimes, as I learn, I like to try and develop concepts and ideas of my own to help myself make sense of the universe. Then, I spend the rest of my life challenging, expanding, and refining these concepts and ideas.

Blog

Occasionally, when I feel like it, I write up and share blog posts—sometimes stories, sometimes poems, and sometimes about the things I make, the things I do, and the things that happen to me.
